Very few pictorial scenes from the Viking Age have survived, making the Oseberg tapestry a cultural treasure. The original fragments, on display in the Viking Ship Museum in Oslo, are of unbelievable craftsmanship. Archaeologists have recreated and combined the fragments into what the tapestry may have looked like in order to illustrate this unique artistic activity of the Viking Age.
