Paul Binns Swords
Paul Binns has a world-wide reputation as a sword smith. His weapons have been used for film and television productions, and for museum use, but he is probably best known for his re-enactment equipment. His swords are well known for their toughness. These swords by Paul are more simple in style and finish than his usual swords. They are bare bones rough and tough reinactment swords and do show grind marks. Each has a very wide tang and the blades are hardened to 50 Rockwell. They come with a blunt 1.5-2mm edge.

Historical Note:
What you see on tv and movies is not how swords were historically used during the Viking Age. One would only parry with their sword in the gravest of situations, and even then they would try to parry with the flat of the blade rather than the edge. The swords used in movies have very thick edges and could never be sharpened. A real sword with a sharp edge cannot parry like in the movies without being damaged. To defend against blows they would either block with shield or dodge the blow.
