One of the most powerful of the Norse gods was Thor, god of thunder. His followers wore a pendant in the shape of his mighty hammer named “Mjolner.” This is a replica of one such hammer that is dated about 1000 AD. It was found in Denmark as part of a hoard near Roskilde. It is currently on display at the Roskilde Viking Ship Museum in Roskilde, Denmark. The reproduction is made with sterling (.925) silver and is approximately 1 1/4” high and 1 1/2” wide and weighs about 4.3 grams.
