Above him Ratatosk the squirrel funs insults between Niddhogg the dragon at the roots and the Eagle at the top. The three Norns (past, present, & future) pour healing waters on the tree's roots to heal the damage Niddhogg does. Below sits hell in the Underworld flanked by Asgard and Jotunheim.
