Very well made Viking Axe with type D axehead. Very similar to our W1159 axe, but for this version the axehead has a poll. Hand forged head is made by wrapping softer steel around a hardened bit, 6" sharpened edge. 19" Hickory handle. Weighs about 2lbs. Made in the USA.

Excellent axe
Wanted a Type D with Poll so I could hammer stakes into the ground, etc, and to complement a type D I already have This one is extremely nice, battle-ready (not for hanging on a wall), and it arrived extremely sharp. I use mine around a creek clearing thorns and pulling myself up the banks and havent had any issues with oxidation. These are apparently handcrafted and the real deal, I highly recommend getting one while this artisan is making them.

Very Nice
Lightly oiled it and it's good to go. Simply real nice, especially the dark wood grain handle. Can personalize the handle with leather or something.

Looks nice but rusted after 1st use
Looks great, handle is smooth to the point of dangerously slippery and the axe head rusted almost entirely after one use.
Viking Shield response - The axe is made of steel and will rust if not oiled properly after each use. Can be cleaned up with some oil and a wire brush. -
Extension of the Arm
Strong, light, a keen edge & deftly balanced. Definitely getting what I wanted out of this workhorse. Customer service was great and so is the axe!

Better than expected
When I received this piece I was blown away. I wanted an axe I could use for costume and camping and I got it.
