The original Suontaka sword was found in a woman's grave in Finland and dates to the mid 10th century. This stunning replica of the original features a highly detailed knot work pommel, guard, grip band and inserts. All have been lavishly plated in rich copper. Blade is made from tough 1085 high carbon steel with a full tang and is fully tempered, then peened over the pommel. The sword comes complete with a rich leather scabbard and matching copper fittings and sports a baldric for wearing this powerful piece. Made by Windlass Steelcrafts.

Sountaka Sword!
I recently purchased this sword. it was nicely packaged and arrived without any damage. I was pleased to see an added baldric/scabbard. However I believe the baldric should be a little longer to accommodate larger people.
The fit and finish is very nice on this sword. I ordered the blade sharpened, and it is decently sharp. The only issue I had was one of the inlays fell out of the handle when I bumped the blade against a hard surface. This is an easy fix, as I plan on glueing it back into place. However, I do expect inlays to be properly set with a sword in this price range.
Overall, I believe this is one of the best swords in its price range. If the inlay hadn't fallen out I would've given it 5 stars. This is a beautiful sword and I would recommend it to a friend.
